Pre-Medicine program
The American Medical Academy preparing to offer the Pre-Medicine Program (PMP); it is a one year program for the local and the international applicants who wish to study the Doctor of Medicine (MD) or for the Dentistry (DDS) program. This pre-medicine program is offering at the AMA-BSMU Medical campus in Atlanta for the US students. Starting date will be announced later. The PMP course is a full- time education program with 48 weeks of classes, this includes four quarters of pre-med classes and eight weeks of high school review subjects. Each quarter has 10 weeks of classes & practical; the practical also includes six weeks of nursing care and four weeks of clinical observation.
In order to complete the program and to qualify for the enrollment into the Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Dentistry (DDS) program at AMA’s partner Medical University, candidate have to pass the required courses including the high school review subjects Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and study other pre-med courses, including the practical. The AMA pre-medicine courses include the introduction to Human Anatomy, Physiology, Organic Chemistry, Biology & Histology, Medical Terminology, Medical Physics, and introduction to research methodology; also candidates have to do 10 weeks of medial observation and patient care practical at AMA partner hospitals, clinics and healthcare facilities. Upon completion of the program and passing the required exams, candidates would get course completion certificate from American Medical Academy.
Eligibility Criteria
The AMA’s Pre-Medicine program is open to any individual who are physically and mentally fit, with a minimum education of 12 years of schooling with science subjects and with an average grade of “B” or better, or higher education from an accredited school of their corresponding countries. To apply for the pre-medicine program each candidate must fulfill the following criteria:
Minimum 12 years of schooling
minimum “B” average or better and completion of the 12th school year.
no police records. A Police Clearance certificate (PCC) is mandatory for the international candidates.
valid passport
two recommendation letters (i.e. from School/college where graduated.)
motivation letter / letter of interest “Why he/she would like to be a Medical Doctor/Dentist?” (200 words)
Acceptance and offer
Once American Medical Academy admission office receives completely filled and signed application form along with the documents required for enrollment, the admission board will review and verify these documents. If the documents are in order, our team will check with the appropriate authorities for verification and acceptance of the candidate into the program. Then AMA will send a conditional offer letter to the candidate, where it will be specified, the required initial payment as well as other criteria the candidate must fulfill.
When the candidate is accepted, the American Medical Academy admission office will issue the confirmation and invitation letter for starting the program.
