The American Medical Academy (AMA) is currently accepting applications for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) program. Under this plan candidates study their first three plus one (3 + 1) years in Europe at the BSMU campus in Chernivtsi, Ukraine (Europe). Candidates also have the option to study their 4 th year (last year) studies at the AMA-BSMU campus in Atlanta OR at one of AMA’s partner institutions in USA (certain conditions would apply). Upon completion of the program, graduates would receive the Bachelor degree in Nursing (BSN) from BSMU and AMA (for dual degree, and certain conditions would apply).
AMA is currently establishing medical campuses, located in the city of Chamblee and in Cobb County (Atlanta), Georgia, USA for offering the Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) and other academic programs in partnership with Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU), a 75 + year-old European medical university in Ukraine.
The AMA-BSMU Bachelor Degree in nursing program is based on a 3+1-year plan, consisting of 240 credits. Upon completion of their third year of studies and the completion of 180 credits, successful candidates will receive a Junior Degree/Nursing Diploma from BSMU. These graduates are then eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) exam. AMA then prepares the candidates for the US licensing (NCLEX) exam in Europe or in the US, according to the choice of a candidate. (For completing the NCLEX preparation training in USA, certain conditions would apply).
After these candidates pass their third-year exams and secure the Nursing Diploma, they can continue their fourth year studies at the BSMU campus in Europe and complete the program. As an option, the 4 th year studies (last year studies; the last 60 credits) can be completed at the AMA-BSMU campus in Atlanta or at one of AMA’s partner institutions in USA. Also as an option, all practicums and clinical rotations can be completed at US hospitals or in Europe at BSMU hospitals. Upon passing their required exams, candidates will receive the BSN from BSMU. It is also possible for candidates to receive a dual degree from AMA or one of its US partner institutions. (For receiving the dual degree, certain condition would apply).
Program Overview:
The AMA BSN degree requires students to undertake four years of study, for a total of 240 credits. As part of their curriculum, nursing students also receive training which will fully prepare them to take the required NCLEX exam. After passing all required classes and exams, students will receive a dual BSN degree from both BSMU and AMA.
Students may enter this program directly from high school or as transfer students. Students with college credits may request to have those credits evaluated for transferability into the AMA-BSMU’s BSN program. Acceptable transfer courses may allow the student to complete the four-year program in less time. During the first three years of the BSN program, students will take both the general education and nursing courses required for completion of the degree.
Student may also decide to complete this program on a part-time basis (part time study option is NOT available for international students). However, if students choose a part-time plan, the program may take a longer time to complete, depending on how much time they can devote to their required studies. Courses are offered at a variety of times throughout the calendar year, and evening classes may also be scheduled depending on student demand.
The first three years of study require students to complete 180 credits and to pass their required exams. After successful completion of these studies, students receive a Nursing Diploma (also known as a Junior Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing). Candidates also prepare to take the NCLEX exam during these three years.
The fourth and final year of study consists of an additional 60 credits. Upon completion, candidates receive a dual BSN degree from both AMA and BSMU. Upon graduation, students will then be qualified to sit for the NCLEX exam. Upon passing this exam, graduates may apply for licensure as Registered Nurses (RN).
American Medical Academy places special emphasis on training its students to work successfully in the nursing profession. AMA faculty and other specialists provide rigorous and appropriate training, which offers our graduates the opportunity to pass the NCLEX exam on their first attempt.
Excellence in Teaching and Innovation in Practice:
Our US and European faculty possess rich and diverse backgrounds, interests, and areas of expertise. They bring the latest discoveries and procedures into the classroom. In clinical care and practice, AMA faculty members take the lead in incorporating professionalism and evidence-based practice into their instruction.
A Focus on Community Health:
AMA believes that compassion is the most important attribute of a practicing nurse, which AMA strives to instill in all its students. We work to ensure that our students take responsibility for community health, and achieving such health is a major focus of the AMA curriculum. We maintain active partnerships with local schools and community groups, to improve community health. These partnerships also give our students the opportunity to learn and to build relationships with the people that they will one day serve, through their practice and research.
Our faculty and students devote over 1,000 hours a year to working with local communities which provide healthcare to vulnerable populations. These groups include under-served schools, the homeless population, the older adult community, and those with mental health disorders.
