Doctor of Medicine (MD)

The American Medical Academy (AMA) is accepting qualified candidates (those candidates with minimum 12 th grade diploma and higher academic qualification including the bachelor degree with science background) can apply for the six years Doctor of Medicine (MD) program for the 2020-2021 academic year. This program is offering in partnership with the Bukovinian State Medical University “BSMU”, a 75 + years old Medical University located in Ukraine. Under this plan (AMA-BSMU medical campus arrangement), candidates would study the entire six years at the BSMU campus in Europe and has the option do the limited clinical observation and practical at the US teaching hospitals. Or as an option candidates can study the first 3 years at the BSMU’s main campus in Chernivtsi (Ukraine, Europe) and the last three years at the AMA-BSMU medical campus in USA, including the clinical rotation. Those candidates registered through the AMA-BSMU medical campus would study extra courses and receive special training that are relevant and helpful for the graduates to prepare for the US medical licenses, from US medical professors and trainers during the six years study period, compared to the regular BSMU medical students.

Upon successful completion of the program, candidates would receive Medical Degree “MD” from BSMU. Qualified Graduates can also take USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 exams and can apply for the US residency & prepare to take the US Medical license.

The Six years MD program through the AMA-BSMU medical campus in US and at the BSMU campus in Chernivtsi are uniquely designed program by the experienced BSMU & US medical faculties to equip the Medical students to have a strong foundation and advance knowledge in all concerned subjects and medical training. The six years MD program is mapped to the American system of Medical requirements and during the course of the studies, the candidates go through rigorous training that enable them to be molded into persons with good judgment.

Even if the candidates chose to do the entire MD program at the BSMU campus, from the 4th through the 6th year study period, students also have the option do their part of the practical with AMA’s partner US teaching hospitals and clinics. The practical and clinical observation candidates would do in the US hospitals would be separate from the clinical work candidates would do at the BSMU’s European hospitals.

USA Campus

American Medical Academy (AMA) and Bukovinian State Medical University “BSMU” are currently establishing medical campus in Atlanta (AMA-BSMU medical campus), USA; for offering Master of Medicine (“MD”, Doctor of Medicine) and other academic programs including Bachelor degree in Nursing. This campus would be in cooperation and partnership with AMA’s consortium of partner US teaching hospitals. The AMA-BSMU Medical Campus academic programs will be operated & administered by BSMU and the teaching faculty will be US and BSMU. All practicums and clinical rotations will be at US hospitals. Upon successful completion of the program, students will get their medical degree from BSMU. Opening date of the campus will be announced later.

BSMU is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and graduates are eligible to apply for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification. Eligibility Criteria:

The Six years MD program/Doctor of Medicine is open to any individual who is physically and mentally fit with a minimum education qualification of 12 years of schooling with science subjects and with the grade point average “B” or GPA 3.0 or higher education from an accredited school of their respective countries. To apply for the six years MD program, each candidate must fulfill the following criteria.

  • All candidates must have a minimum 12 years of schooling and higher with Science subjects.

  • They must be from the Science stream during their schooling.

  • They should have a minimum of “B” or better grade point average or the aggregate in the completion year of their 12 year schooling.

  • All participating candidate should successfully complete AMA’s Pre-Medicine program (not applicable for the 2020-2021 academic year).

  • They should have no police records. A Police Clearance certificate (PCC) is mandatory.

  • They should have a valid passport.

  • Should be Medically fit with a clear health record.

  • They should have Medical insurance cover for the period of studies.

  • They should have two recommendation letters, (one must be from the School/college they have passed out from.)

  • Each candidate must provide in their own handwriting in about 200 words on, “Why they would like to be a Medical Doctor through this program?
