Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Dentist (DDS)

The American Medical Academy (AMA) is accepting qualified candidates (those candidates with the Bachler degree in science background) for the six years Doctor of Medicine (MD) program and five years Doctor of Dentistry (DDS) for the 2018-2019 academic year. This program is offering in partnership with the European Medical University (Bukovinian State Medical University “BSMU”) and candidates would complete the full medical studies at the campus in Europe or candidates have the option to study part of the studies at AMA-BSMU Medical campus in the South East of Michigan or at the Caribbean campus from the 2nd year of studies. Also candidates have the option to do the clinical part of the training at the US teaching hospitals through AMA’s partner hospitals, clinics and other health care organizations.

Upon successful completion of the medical studies, candidates would get the Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Dentistry (DDS) degree from the partner European Medical University, Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU). Under this arrangement, the USA students also have the option to his/her final part of the studies/training in USA ( up to 22 months of observation & clinical rotation at AMA’s partner teaching US hospitals) and also can do the USMLE step 1, step 2, step 3 exams and move on with his/her US residency requirement’s preparation.

Program High Lights

The Six years MD program and the five years DDS program at American Medical Academy (AMA) is a uniquely designed program by the experienced BSMU to equip the Medical practices with a strong foundation and advance knowledge. The six years MD program and five years DDS program in partnership with AMA’s partner European University (BSMU) and program is mapped to the American system of Medical practice and to meet the National Board Dental Exams requirements (all required to do clinical with the US teaching hospitals).During the course of the studies the candidates go through rigorous works that enable them to be molded into persons with good judgment.

For the MD program, from the 4th through the 6th year students also have the option do their part of the practical with AMA’s partner US teaching hospitals and clinics. The practical, candidates would do in US hospitals would be separate from the clinical work candidates do in European hospitals or US teaching hospitals.

USA Campus

American Medical Academy (AMA) and BSMU are in the process of establishing a medical campus in Southeastern Michigan (Detroit area) as BSMU’s special branch in the USA. This campus would be in cooperation and partnership with AMA’s consortium of partner US teaching hospitals. The AMA-BSMU Medical Campus will be operated & administered by BSMU. Teaching faculty will be US and BSMU. All practicums and clinical rotations will be at US hospitals. Upon successful completion of the program, students will get their medical degree from BSMU. Opening date of the campus will be announced later.

Caribbean Campus

AMA and BSMU are in the process of establishing medical campus in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago (Caribbean) as a Caribbean branch in cooperation and partnership with the consortium of AMA’s local partners (Trinidad Teaching hospitals) and U.S. teaching hospitals. AMA-BSMU Trinidad Medical Campus will be operated and administered by BSMU. Additionally, faculty will be Trinidad, USA and European. All practicums and clinical rotations occur at Trinidad teaching hospitals. On a special, pre-arranged basis, and prior to start the program, students have the option to do clinical rotations at U.S. hospitals. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive their medical degree from BSMU. Opening date of the campus will be announced later.

AMA partner European Medical University BSMU

Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU) is a recognized member of the International Association of Educational Universities (IAEU), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Association of Carpathian Region Universities (ACRU) and the Great Charter of Universities. BSMU is one of the largest higher educational establishments in Europe. The BSMU established in 1944 and holds the “Accreditation level: IV”and the License: no. 041096, dated 13.07.2013. BSMU is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and graduates are eligible to apply for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification. Eligibility Criteria:

The Six years MD program and five years DDS program are open to any individual who is physically and mentally fit with a minimum education qualification of 12 years of schooling with science subjects and with the grade point average “B” or GPA 3.0 or higher education from an accredited school of their respective countries. To apply for the six years MD program or six years DDS program, each candidate must fulfill the following criteria.

  • All candidates must have a minimum 12 years of schooling and higher with Science subjects.

  • They must be from the Science stream during their schooling.

  • They should have a minimum of “B” or better grade point average or the aggregate in the completion year of their 12 year schooling.

  • All participating candidate should successfully complete AMA’s Pre-Medicine program.

  • They should have no police records. A Police Clearance certificate (PCC) is mandatory.

  • They should have a valid passport (this is required due to the European part of the studies at AMA’s partner university)

  • Should be Medically fit with a clear health record

  • They should have Medical insurance cover for the period of studies.

  • They should have two recommendation letters, (one must be from the School/college they have passed out from.)

  • Each candidate must provide in their own handwriting in about 200 words on, “Why they would like to be a Medical Doctor through this program?
